Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines and railways. Civil engineering is traditionally broken into a number of sub-disciplines. It is the second-oldest engineering discipline after, military engineering and it is defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering. Civil engineering takes place in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.

Civil Engineering program at Bakhtar University is to deal with the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of structures and the infrastructure. These include buildings, foundations, bridges, transportation facilities, nuclear and conventional power plants, hydraulic structures, and other facilities essential to society. An ability to design, implement, and evaluate field projects to meet desired needs, within economic, environmental, social, political, health and safety constraints is the target behind civil engineering. The program enables the student to practice civil engineering using up-to-date techniques, skills, and tools as a result of life-long learning ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. The course benefits the students by giving them understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities.

The department aims to provide students with a technical foundation incorporated with the industrial need together with the breadth needed in the profession via advanced study or field training, or as a base for other pursuits.

Program Objectives

Students will gain the ability to identify, analyze, formulate, and solve different challenging of civil engineering problems.

Students will develop professional skills that prepare them for immediate employment or postgraduate study in Civil Engineering disciplines.

Students will develop abilities in the application of the necessary mathematical tools, scientific basics, and fundamental knowledge of Civil Engineering.

To produce graduates who are prepared for life-long learning and successful careers as civil engineers.

Students will develop an understanding of the multidisciplinary approach and an ability to relate engineering issues to broader social and human context, in which their engineering contributions will be utilized.

Students will learn to communicate their ideas to be effective in collaboration with other members of civil engineering teams.
